Benefits of IBCs vs Drums
- IBC’s have greater storage capacity with an IBC taking up to 1 250 L/330 Gallons on one pallet space compared to four drums that would require the same space, but only store 800 L/ 220 Gallons
- IBC’s can be moved freely and without expensive pallets and shrink wrap and can be stacked up to five high
- IBC’s can be used multiple times, while drums are generally single-use-only,

Collapsible Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs)
An IBC is a reusable container, typically pallet mounted, that is used for storing and transporting bulk liquids and powders, semi-solids, pastes, or even solids. IBC’s are either flexible (collapsible) or rigid and the term “‘intermediate’ comes from the volume that intermediate bulk containers carry, which usually falls between 1000L and 1 250L compared to that of tanks and drums.
Why do IBCs exist?
Rigid containers, such as drums and stainless steel containers are often returned to source empty resulting in double the transport cost per liter Returned rigid containers also require extensive and expensive cleaning before refilling Collapsible IBCs however, are more space efficient using 60% less space when stored or transported empty. In addition, the same collapsible IBC, together with our liquid liner range can be used for a variety of products and are easy to fill and decant.
